Help for Struggling Readers
If you feel like your child is struggling to read, or if you find yourself intimidated by the idea of having to teach your child to read, I can help. My multi-tiered program allows you to choose just the right level of intervention for your child, and since all services are provided online, you can access them from anywhere in the world.
My virtual reading groups allow students of similar reading levels to learn together through video conferencing. This can be an affordable solution for many families. After an initial evaluation, your student is placed in a reading group and given full access to our virtual classroom, leveled readers, and parental support resources.
Some students may benefit more from additional private instruction. This is particularly true for students who are diagnosed with learning disabilities or dyslexia. However, any family may request Tier Two instruction if they prefer more targeted or personalized instruction for their child. Tier Two students still have full access to all of the benefits in Tier One, but with additional private instruction time each week.
Designed for independent practice, all reading students have access to the Virtual Classroom each week where they can play games, watch videos, and read along with the books we are reading in class. The content changes each week and students will enjoy finding hidden surprises around the room.
Your student’s reading group will meet online twice a week for thirty minutes to learn new reading skills and practice reading together. Each lesson is designed to address specific skills your child needs to improve their reading ability. I use structured, sequential, research-based approaches to support your child’s learning.
Each week, I will meet with your student individually to assess their progress. This not only gives you a snapshot of their achievement it also allows me to adjust my instruction quickly to better meet their needs. Assessments take thirty minutes or less each week and are scheduled on Wednesdays or Fridays.
I believe parents know what is best for their own children, and sometimes all we need is a little help to make things work. That’s why Parental Support is so important to me. Parents are invited to join my private Facebook Group, Daily Steps, a community of parents who can encourage one another as they tackle homeschooling and reading instruction with their children. I share tips to make it all easier and a little more fun. You'll also find helpful resources on my blog.
